Program planning is one of the most critical processes in which students, parents, and the school staff participate. The decisions made today can have an enormous impact on future post-secondary career and educational opportunities.
The staff at Mission have just completed our annual review of course offerings including recently Ministry approved, and School Board (BAA) courses. Our purpose is to provide students at Mission Secondary with
courses that will ensure excellent preparation for the post-secondary world. For some this will mean programs with a highly academic focus, while for others preparation will enhance the transition to careers in the fine arts or applied skills areas.
It is the expectation of School District #75 (Mission) that students entering secondary schools in grade eight will graduate five years later. As such, the need for careful planning of students’ educational programs is critical.
Each student will have ample opportunity to receive guidance from their counsellor in determining the program that best suits their needs.
IT MUST BE EMPHASIZED, HOWEVER, THAT THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY FOR EACH STUDENT’S PROGRAM RESTS WITH THE STUDENT AND THE PARENT/GUARDIAN.
